Pepi Scores Again

Striker Scored His Second Goal in as Many Matches in PSV's Victory

Ricardo Pepi's difficult season at PSV Eindhoven may finally be gaining momentum after scoring in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Heerenveen, marking his second consecutive start and second straight match with a goal. The 22-year-old American striker has endured a frustrating campaign, with these recent appearances representing just his fourth and fifth starts of the season—far fewer than he would have anticipated.

Pepi's goal came from a well-crafted team move within the opening half-hour, alongside Joey Veerman's strike, effectively sealing the points before halftime. Despite limited touches—just 28 throughout the 90 minutes, the fewest of any outfield player completing the match—Pepi demonstrated clinical efficiency with both his shots finding the target.

PSV manager Peter Bosz has acknowledged the difficulty in giving Pepi more opportunities, explaining that the team's relentless winning streak made squad rotation challenging. However, his recent inclusion hasn't disrupted that momentum; Saturday's triumph extended PSV's winning run to nine consecutive Eredivisie matches, maintaining their commanding six-point advantage at the summit.

With confidence building, Pepi will likely feature when PSV faces Atletico Madrid in Tuesday's Champions League fixture. The high-profile European encounter could provide another platform for the young forward to demonstrate he deserves a more permanent role in Bosz's plans as PSV pursues domestic and continental success.
