Aaronson Finishes Off "Poetry"

Aaronson's Winner Sends Leeds Top of the Championship at New Years

Brenden Aaronson's late strike against Derby County not only secured Leeds United's position atop the Championship table heading into 2025 but also drew poetic praise from manager Daniel Farke, who hailed it as his early pick for goal of the season.

The American midfielder's composed finish came at the end of an intricate team move, with Sam Byram initiating the sequence before Manor Solomon and Joel Piroe combined to set up Aaronson for the decisive goal. The victory, Leeds' eighth in their last ten matches, demonstrated both their promotion credentials and Aaronson's continued renaissance under Farke's guidance.

"I'll put it straight away into my poetry album," Farke enthused post-match BBC. "It was a perfect team move and Brenden also came up with a perfect calm finish."

The German manager's praise highlighted not just the aesthetic quality of the goal but its importance in a match where Leeds had previously been frustrated by Derby goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom's heroics.

The goal marked Aaronson's seventh of the campaign, placing him second in Leeds' scoring charts behind only Joel Piroe. It's a remarkable turnaround for the American international, whose future at Elland Road seemed uncertain following Leeds' relegation and subsequent summer of change. Having started the season with both promise and frustration – scoring an equalizer against Portsmouth on opening day before missing a crucial chance in the same match – Aaronson has emerged as a key figure in Leeds' promotion push.

The victory at Pride Park showcased Leeds' dominance, with Derby failing to register a shot on target in the first half. While the hosts showed more ambition after the break, forcing Illan Meslier into action from Curtis Nelson's header, Leeds' persistence ultimately paid off through Aaronson's well-worked winner.

"Perfect team performance, perfect away performance," Farke reflected Yahoo. "These nights are the best. Tight win, late goal, clean sheet and is perfect for the mood and spirit." The result moved Leeds two points clear of Sheffield United, who had briefly claimed top spot following their 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion earlier in the day.

For Aaronson, the goal represents more than just three points – it's the latest evidence of a player who has rediscovered his confidence and form at a crucial time in Leeds' promotion campaign. With his intricate play and growing collection of decisive moments, the American midfielder is proving instrumental in Leeds' bid to secure a return to the Premier League.

Another Robinson Assist

Fullback Provides the Cross for Fulham's Second as Club Remains in Unbeaten in Seven

Fulham's Antonee Robinson demonstrated once again why he's attracting interest from Liverpool and Manchester United, providing another crucial assist in a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at Craven Cottage.

The American left-back's deflected cross in the 72nd minute found Harry Wilson, who headed home to give Fulham a temporary lead before Dango Ouattara's late equalizer. The draw, Fulham's fifth in seven matches during this unbeaten run, helped the club move to eigth as of Monday morning

The assist marked Robinson's seventh of the Premier League campaign, putting him third in assists with Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka ahead of the defender. His consistent performances have caught the eye of Manchester United's new head coach Ruben Amorim, who is looking to strengthen his left wing-back options amid injury concerns.

Beyond his attacking contribution, Robinson showcased his all-around game against Bournemouth, winning 7-of-11 ground duels and completing 78% of his passes. The 27-year-old created three chances during the match and maintained a strong defensive presence, though Bournemouth's late equalizer denied Fulham all three points.

The American's impressive tally of ten assists in the 2023 calendar year - four more than any other Premier League defender - demonstrates his ability to contribute meaningfully to attacking play while maintaining defensive responsibilities.

Robinson's potential move to Manchester United is the latest transfer rumor to circulate and with the January transfer window approaching, Robinson's consistent performances and attacking output make him an increasingly attractive option for top clubs, who may need to be creative with their transfer budgets. For now, Robinson continues to prove his worth at Craven Cottage, where his stock rises with each impressive display.

Lund Scores First of the Season

Defender Nets Equalizer in Eventual Defeat

The 22-year-old American defender Kristoffer Lund found the target in Serie B action on Sunday, as Palermo suffered defeat against Citadella to remain firmly in mid-table. The goal marked his first of the current campaign, adding to his two-goal tally from last season. His performance against Citadella showcased his growing confidence, with an impressive 89% passing accuracy and two created chances during the match.

While Antonee Robinson remains firmly established as the USMNT's first-choice left-back, Lund's development in Serie B demonstrates his potential. Missing out on November's national team camp hasn't deterred the young defender, who remains focused on his progression at Palermo. The fullback has reclaimed his spot on the left side of defense over the last month with three stats in the last four matches. With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Lund's combination of youth and growing experience in European football keeps him in the conversation for future national team consideration.

Different Pulisic Setbacks

Winger Picked-Up New Ankle Injury Before Manager was Sacked

Christian Pulisic’s injury troubles have deepened AC Milan’s challenges in a season marked by inconsistency. After recovering from a calf problem, the USMNT star suffered an unexpected ankle injury during rehabilitation, which ruled him out for Sunday's 1-1 draw with Roma.

Milan’s top scorer with eight goals and six assists, Pulisic’s absence is a significant blow, particularly as the team struggles to regain form in Serie A. His anticipated return for the Supercoppa Italia semifinal against Juventus on Friday is now a key milestone for both the player and the club.

Pulisic’s importance to Milan has been evident throughout the season, with his versatility and leadership on the pitch often serving as a bright spot. However, the timing of his injury adds to the upheaval at the club, which recently dismissed manager Paulo Fonseca after a string of poor domestic results.

Sergio Conceicao, formerly of Porto, has been appointed as Milan’s new head coach. Known for his emphasis on wide players in his 4-2-3-1 formation, Conceicao’s arrival could create fresh opportunities for Pulisic to shine upon his return. With Milan still alive in the Champions League, Pulisic’s recovery and Conceicao’s leadership may be pivotal in revitalizing the season.

Adams' Slight Injury Hiccup

Midfielder Missed Fulham Draw with Minor Issue

Tyler Adams’ return to form with Bournemouth hit a brief snag as the American midfielder missed the Cherries’ 2-2 draw with Fulham due to a minor muscle injury. Manager Andoni Iraola confirmed Adams sustained the issue during Bournemouth’s Boxing Day clash against Crystal Palace, where he came off the bench. While Iraola reassured fans that the injury is “not something big,” Adams’ absence highlights the ongoing challenges he has faced since joining the South Coast club.

The 25-year-old has battled injuries since his move from Leeds United in 2023, managing just three Premier League appearances in his debut season. Despite those setbacks, Adams has been a key presence this campaign, featuring in nine league games and starting five. His energy and defensive acumen have been vital in Bournemouth’s midfield, especially during their recent fixtures.

Adams’ absence was felt at Craven Cottage, where Bournemouth had to dig deep to secure a dramatic point. Goals from Evanilson and a late equalizer by Dango Ouattara salvaged the result, despite a lengthy injury list that included Adams.

With Bournemouth set to open 2025 against Everton, the club and fans alike will hope Adams’ recovery is swift, ensuring his return to the lineup remains imminent.

Richards Bounces Back

Defender Helps Crystal Palace Rebound with Victory Over Southampton

Chris Richards returned to Crystal Palace’s starting lineup and played the full 90 minutes in their 2-1 victory over Southampton on Sunday, a crucial result that lifts Palace further from the relegation zone. It was only Richards’ second start in three months, having been left on the bench for the Boxing Day draw with Bournemouth following a difficult outing against Arsenal a little over a week ago.

Defensively, Richards delivered a solid, no-nonsense performance. With Marc Guéhi suspended, the American center-back stepped up as a reliable deputy. Richards registered three clearances, two interceptions, and 10 defensive actions and his positional awareness ensured Southampton’s attacking opportunities were limited, even after the visitors took an early lead through Tyler Dibling.

On the ball, Richards was tidy, completing 89% of his passes, including three passes into the final third. While his distribution lacks the commanding confidence of Guéhi, Richards did enough to contribute to a composed defensive effort. Palace’s improved form under Oliver Glasner has eased their early-season struggles, and Richards’ performance underscores his ability to step in when needed. As Palace eyes a stronger second half to the season, Richards will look to build on this confidence-boosting display.

Adams vs Robinson on Sunday

Americans Face-off in a Match Between Two Clubs in the Top-Half of the Table

Americans Tyler Adams and Antonee Robinson are set to face off when Fulham welcomes Bournemouth in Premier League action on Sunday, with both players enjoying contrasting fortunes in their recent appearances.

Robinson, who has emerged as a key figure for Fulham, continues his impressive streak of playing every minute of the Premier League season through 18 matches. The left-back has worn the captain's armband in five of the last six league games, including Fulham's recent 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Boxing Day.

Meanwhile, Adams continues his steady return to full fitness for Bournemouth, most recently featuring for 28 minutes as a substitute against Crystal Palace. The midfielder has made seven appearances since his October return from injury, including five starts.

The Cherries will be without the suspended Justin Kluivert, while injuries continue to sideline several players including Marcos Senesi and Luis Sinisterra. Philip Billing is expected to step in for Kluivert, with Evanilson pushing for a start up front.

Fulham manager Marco Silva faces decisions in attack after substitutes Harry Wilson and Rodrigo Muniz scored against Chelsea, though both are likely to remain on the bench with Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore expected to retain their starting positions.

McKennie to be Rewarded

Midfielder Poised for Extension and Pay Bump

Weston McKennie's resurgence at Juventus is set to be rewarded with a new long-term contract, as the club looks to extend the American midfielder's stay until June 2029. The proposed deal would include an improved salary package from his current €2.5 million net annual wages.

McKennie's journey in Turin has been marked by unexpected turns since his 2020 arrival from Schalke. Despite being transfer-listed last summer, the 26-year-old secured a short-term extension until 2026 in August and has since become an invaluable member of Thiago Motta's squad.

The Texan's versatility has particularly impressed, with McKennie featuring across multiple positions including central midfield, attacking midfielder, winger, center-forward, and most recently, left-back. His adaptability was on full display in Juventus's recent 2-1 victory over Monza, where he opened the scoring with a well-taken volley in the 14th minute.

The goal helped end Juventus's run of four consecutive Serie A draws and maintained their 25-match unbeaten league streak - currently the longest in Europe's top five leagues. McKennie's strike came from a corner routine, with the American showing excellent positioning to volley home amid defensive confusion.

His contribution against Monza added to an impressive season tally of four goals and two assists in 17 appearances across all competitions. The performance exemplified why Juventus is keen to secure his long-term future, with the club particularly benefiting from tax savings on his salary through Italy's Growth Decree.

The American's transformation from potential departure to key player underlines his importance to Motta's tactical flexibility, with Juventus now sitting six points behind league leaders Atalanta as they prepare for their next fixture against Fiorentina on Sunday.

Pulisic Back in Training

Winger Could Be Back for Weekend Clash with Roma

Christian Pulisic could make a quicker-than-expected return from his calf injury, with the AC Milan star targeting the Sunday clash against Roma at San Siro for his comeback, though the new year seems the more likely return date.

The American winger, who suffered a low-grade soleus muscle tear in his right calf following a challenge from Atalanta's Mario Pasalic in early December, has shown encouraging signs of recovery. Pulisic has already resumed individual training at Milanello following the Christmas break.

His potential return would provide a significant boost for Paulo Fonseca's side, who have struggled to maintain their attacking fluency in his absence. The injury interrupted what has been an outstanding season for Pulisic, who has contributed eight goals and six assists in just 20 matches across all competitions.

Off the pitch, Milan is moving to secure Pulisic's long-term future, with reports suggesting a contract extension until 2028 or 2029 is close to being finalized. The new deal would include an improved salary of €5 million per season, recognizing his impact since arriving from Chelsea. For now, all eyes are on the Roma fixture as Milan's American star eyes a return before the year's end.

McKennie Scores from Unlikely Position

Playing left-back again, the American volleyed home Juventus' opener

Weston McKennie demonstrated his versatility and offensive instincts as he helped Juventus secure a crucial 2-1 victory over Monza at the U-Power Stadium on Sunday, ending the Bianconeri's 43-day wait for a Serie A win.

The American international, who started at left-back for the second game running before transitioning through multiple positions during the match, made his mark early by scoring the opening goal in the 14th minute. McKennie capitalized on a corner kick opportunity, showcasing his ability to find space in the box and convert set-piece chances.

"To win was very important, we have drawn too many games recently: three points before Christmas was crucial for us, for the fans, for each and every family. We're happy and we're moving forward," McKennie said. Juventus.com

His goal set the tone for Juventus, who were desperate to break their streak of four consecutive draws in the league. Though Monza would eventually equalize through Samuele Birindelli, Nico Gonzalez's winner ensured McKennie's contribution proved decisive in securing all three points.

Manager Thiago Motta praised McKennie's adaptability after the match, telling DAZN: "Gonzalez and McKennie are open to taking roles that they don't always hold, but they do it very well because they have a high level and it is a pleasure for a coach to work with lads who have this attitude."

McKennie's positional flexibility was on full display as he moved from left-back to midfield and even operated as a false nine before being substituted in the 89th minute. While his defensive statistics were modest, including nine recoveries and two interceptions, it was his attacking contribution that proved crucial in helping Juventus maintain their unbeaten record in Serie A this season.

Tillman Scores His 10th in All Competitions

Midfielder scores PSV's third in Victory over Feyenoord

Malik Tillman capped off a dominant PSV performance with a sublime strike as the Eredivisie leaders extended their advantage at the top with a convincing 3-0 victory over Feyenoord at the Philips Stadion on Sunday.

The American midfielder, who had shown his intent early in the match by testing Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow in the fifth minute, eventually got his reward in the 63rd minute. With PSV already leading 2-0, Tillman struck a decisive blow to Feyenoord's title hopes, finding the far corner with an expertly placed shot from outside the area to make it 3-0.

The goal came at a crucial moment in the match, just minutes after Feyenoord's Santiago Gimenez had struck the crossbar at the other end. Tillman's clinical finishing effectively ended any hopes of a Feyenoord comeback and highlighted the gulf in quality between the two sides.

It was his seventh goal in the Eredivisie this season and 10th overall, with three scored in the Champions League. The 22-year-old's best season came for Rangers during the 22-23 season, where Tillman scored 11 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions — he has played 24 matches so far this season.

Statistics from the match underscore Tillman's influential performance beyond his goal. The midfielder recorded perfect shot accuracy, with all three of his attempts finding the target, while creating two chances for his teammates. Defensively, Tillman contributed significantly, winning seven of his twelve ground duels and completing two tackles. His all-round display helped PSV maintain control of the midfield and contributed to Feyenoord failing to register a single shot on target in the first half.

The victory, which extended PSV's lead over Feyenoord to ten points at the halfway stage of the season, served as a statement of intent from Peter Bosz's side. For Tillman, his goal and performance exemplified PSV's dominance on a night when they dealt a significant blow to their rivals' championship aspirations.

Aaronson Scores and Assists in Leeds Win

Midfielder Scores Sixth League Goal of the Season in Victory over Oxford

Brenden Aaronson continued his impressive run of form as Leeds United cruised to a 4-0 victory over Oxford United at Elland Road on Saturday, with the American midfielder both scoring and assisting in a dominant display.

The 24-year-old played a crucial role in Leeds' second goal of the match, combining effectively with Jayden Bogle on the right flank in the 58th minute. Their quick exchange of passes created the opening for Bogle to calmly slot home into the bottom corner, doubling Leeds' advantage.

Nine minutes later, Aaronson turned from provider to scorer, notching his sixth goal of the season. Manor Solomon, who had been influential throughout the match, slipped a well-timed pass to find Aaronson's run into the box. The U.S. international demonstrated some calmness with a well-composed right-footed strike to make it 3-0.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke, speaking to BBC Radio Leeds after the match, offered a balanced assessment of Aaronson's performance: "Brenden could sometimes be a bit more tidy but he is still a young lad and his numbers are quite good. He scores goals and he assists. Sometimes he has the tendency to put the ball over the crossbar but it was a really well-taken goal. That ice-cool finish will be good for his confidence."

The victory played out in front of 36,646 fans and marked Leeds' ninth consecutive win at Elland Road, helping maintain their promotion push. The result kept them in second place in the Championship, three points behind leaders Sheffield United. Aaronson's successful return to Leeds in 2024 continues to gather momentum as the team heads into their Boxing Day clash with Stoke City.

Adams Solid Again as Bournemouth Rolls

 Midfielder Strong in Cherries' Victory

Tyler Adams delivered a commanding midfield performance as Bournemouth secured a historic 3-0 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday, helping the Cherries climb to fifth place in the Premier League at Christmas.

The American midfielder, continuing his impressive return from injury, controlled the center of the park during his 89-minute display. Adams' influence was particularly evident in the build-up to Bournemouth's second goal, where he regained possession before Justin Kluivert was fouled in the penalty area.

Statistics highlight Adams' typical all-action display: he won four out of five tackles, made three interceptions, and emerged victorious in seven of his ten ground duels. His defensive prowess helped Bournemouth maintain control throughout the match, while he completed 32-of-42 passes.

The victory marked Bournemouth's second consecutive 3-0 win at Old Trafford, with goals from Dean Huijsen, Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo securing the points. The result puts Andoni Iraola's side just three points off the top four.

For Adams, the performance showcased his importance to Bournemouth's system as he approaches full fitness. His return to form coincides with the Cherries' impressive surge up the table, having now accumulated 28 points from 17 games - six more than at this stage last season.

Richards' First Start Since September

Defender Had a Tough Day in Defeat to Arsenal

Chris Richards earned his first start in 12 matches for Crystal Palace but endured a difficult afternoon as Arsenal ran out 5-1 winners at Selhurst Park on Saturday. The American defender replaced Trevoh Chalobah in Palace's back three as manager Oliver Glasner opted to shake up his defense following their midweek Carabao Cup defeat to the same opposition.

Despite completing 88% of his passes (42-of-48) and making six clearances, including four with his head, Richards struggled to contain Arsenal's attacking threats. The defender was part of a backline that conceded early, with Gabriel Jesus opening the scoring after just six minutes. Arsenal scored twice more in the first half before piling it on in the second.

This was Richard's first start since the goalless draw with Manchester United on September 21st. Richards had managed just 10 minutes for Palace since that start and was even left on the bench for both of the United States' wins over Jamaica in November. The defeat leaves Palace searching for defensive solutions as they head into the holiday period.

"Twas the Night Before Christmas" - USMNT edition

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the States,
The soccer fans pondered the national team's fates.
Pulisic and McKennie were scoring with flair,
While hopes for World Cup glory filled the night air.

The players were scattered across Europe's best teams,
Some living out all of their Champions League dreams.
Weah in Turin, and Adams on the south coast,
While Jedi at Fulham was holding his post.

When at Copa América there arose such a clatter,
As Panama and Uruguay made our hopes scatter.
Away to a group-stage exit we flew,
With Berhalter's second tenure soon waving adieu.

Then what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But Pochettino bringing tactics so clear.
With the Nations League victories fresh in our mind,
The path to success we started to find.

"Now, Pulisic! Now, Weah! Now, Musah and Pepi!
On, McKennie! On, Adams! On, Turner and Balo!
To the top of CONCACAF! To answer the call!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As fans look ahead to twenty-six near,
When the World Cup at home will finally be here.
Twenty-three players, all ready to go,
Bringing hope to U.S. Soccer, putting on quite a show.

So Merry Christmas to all who wear red, white and blue,
As we dream of the conquests in twenty-six too.
And we'll train through the night with all of our might,
"Merry Christmas to soccer, and to all a good night!"

Johnny Sends Betis Through in Conference League

Midfielder Pressed and Scored the Lone Goal in Victory

U.S. international Johnny Cardoso proved to be the hero for Real Betis on Thursday, scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory over HJK Helsinki that secured the Spanish side's place in the Europa Conference League knockout stages.

The 23-year-old American midfielder capitalized on a crucial defensive error in the 27th minute at the Benito Villamarín Stadium. When Helsinki's goalkeeper Nijhuis attempted a risky pass to a teammate, Cardoso pounced on the loose ball, skillfully dribbled past goalkeeper Thijmen Nijhuis and calmly slotted it into an empty net. It was his first goal of the season and second since joining Betis.

Under manager Manuel Pellegrini, Betis controlled much of the match against their Finnish opponents, who hadn't played a domestic league match since October 19 due to their winter break. Despite facing several absences due to injuries and suspensions, Pellegrini trusted Cardoso to anchor the midfield alongside Sergi Altimira, and the American's performance justified that decision. Cardoso went the full 90 minutes over the weekend in a resilient 2-1 win over Villareal.

The victory was crucial for Betis, who had experienced a mixed European campaign thus far. After starting with a defeat in Warsaw and a draw against Copenhagen, they managed to steady their course with victories over Celje and Petrocub, though they also suffered a setback against Mladá Boleslav. Thursday's win ensures their progression to the knockout phase, where they'll compete in a playoff round before the round of 16.

Currently sitting ninth in La Liga, Betis will look to build on this momentum when they visit Rayo Vallecano on Sunday in their final match of 2024, before returning to action in the Copa del Rey against Huesca in the new year.

Versatile McKennie

The American Played Left-Back Tuesday, His Seventh Position at Juventus

Weston McKennie continues to prove his remarkable versatility for Juventus, adding yet another position to his impressive repertoire during Tuesday's 4-0 Coppa Italia victory over Cagliari. The U.S. men's national team midfielder showcased his adaptability by playing the full 90 minutes at left-back, marking his first appearance in that role during his five-season tenure with the Italian giants.

The performance at left-back adds to McKennie's growing list of positions since joining Juventus in August of 2020. While primarily deployed as a central or defensive midfielder, the American has demonstrated his tactical flexibility by effectively operating across the midfield spectrum - from left and right midfielder to attacking midfielder. This season has seen him extend his versatility even further, with successful stints as a second striker and now as a left-back.

Tuesday's victory, which saw Juventus advance to the next round of the Coppa Italia, came at a crucial time for the club, who had previously managed just one win in December - a significant upset over Manchester City in the Champions League. The team had drawn five of their previous seven matches before the Cagliari clash.

McKennie's ability to adapt to new roles has made him an invaluable asset for Juventus and the United States. In the 3-1 victory over Jamaica in the Nations League Semifinal in March 2024, McKennie was deplyed out at right back for the second half. His performance against Cagliari, which helped contribute to a clean sheet and comfortable victory, further cements his reputation as one of the most versatile players in Serie A, capable of meeting tactical demands across multiple positions while maintaining consistent performance levels.

Pulisic Back Earlier Than Expected?

Pulisic Recovery Ahead of Schedule as Milan Plans Contract Extension

Christian Pulisic's injury absence could be shorter than initially feared, with the U.S. international potentially returning to action before the year's end. The winger, who suffered a low-grade tear in his right calf's soleus muscle following a challenge from Atalanta's Mario Pasalic in early December, is showing significant signs of improvement according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

While Monday's clash with Hellas Verona comes too soon, Pulisic is targeting a return to the bench for Milan's December 29 fixture against Roma at San Siro. His return would be a significant boost for the Rossoneri, who have struggled to maintain their attacking fluency in his absence.

Meanwhile, off the field, Milan is moving to secure Pulisic's long-term future. The club is reportedly close to finalizing a contract extension that would keep the American at the San Siro until 2028 or 2029, with an improved salary of €5 million per season. The new deal would reward Pulisic's impressive form this season, which has seen him contribute five goals and five assists in 14 league appearances, plus three goals in the Champions League.

Maloney Dropped

Midfielder Will Not Feature in Heidenheim's Last Match of 2024

Lennard Maloney has been left out of Heidenheim's final match of 2024 due to concerns over his focus, manager Frank Schmidt confirmed on Friday. The 25-year-old midfielder, who missed last week's match against Stuttgart with a head injury, was also absent for Thursday's 1-1 Europa Conference League draw with St. Gallen.

Schmidt made it clear that Maloney's omission wasn't injury-related, but rather due to the player's current mindset. "He's fit and has been training again. But I decided not to nominate him because he's not in the right shape to be able to fully focus on the sporting task at the moment," Schmidt explained during Friday's press conference. kicker.de

The decision comes amid growing speculation about Maloney's future, with his contract set to expire next summer. While Schmidt insisted the situation isn't directly related to contract negotiations, he acknowledged that "the situation of how things will continue in the winter plays a major role." kicker.de

Since joining from Borussia Dortmund II in 2022, Maloney has been a key figure for Heidenheim, helping the club achieve promotion to the Bundesliga and earning his first two USMNT caps in late 2023. Recent reports suggest the club would demand €3-4 million for a January transfer.

Jan Schöppner and Niklas Dorsch are expected to form the defensive midfield partnership for Sunday's match against last-placed VfL Bochum.

Pepi to the Premier League?

Premier League Club Rumored Bid for the Striker

U.S. international striker Ricardo Pepi could be headed to the Premier League, with reports confirming a $20.7M (€20M) bid from an unnamed English top-flight club. The offer comes amid a stellar season for the 21-year-old at PSV Eindhoven, where he's netted 14 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions.

Most recently, Pepi demonstrated his clinical finishing with a brace in PSV's 8-0 KNVB Beker victory over Koninklijke HFC. His remarkable form extends to nine goals in his last 10 league appearances, including a hat-trick against former club FC Groningen. The young American has also maintained his scoring touch for the national team, netting in both matches against Jamaica in the Nations League Quarterfinals.

While PSV reportedly seeks a higher fee than the current offer, Pepi's consistent goalscoring despite limited starting opportunities behind veteran Luuk de Jong has attracted attention across Europe. The Dutch club has one remaining match in 2024, a crucial clash with Feyenoord, before the January transfer window opens.

Injury Setback for Weah

Weah Suffered Hamstring Injury, Will Miss a Couple of Matches

Timothy Weah faces another injury setback after suffering a right hamstring injury during Juventus' Coppa Italia Round of 16 match against Cagliari. The 24-year-old forward, who entered as a substitute in the 81st minute, managed to provide an 'assist' for Nicolás González before being forced off with the injury.

Medical examinations at J|Medical revealed a low-grade injury to the femoral biceps of his right thigh, marking his third minor fitness setback this season. Despite these challenges, Weah has enjoyed a productive campaign, contributing four goals and four assists in 18 appearances across all competitions.

The timing is particularly unfortunate as Weah will miss crucial upcoming fixtures against Monza on December 22 and Fiorentina on December 29. However, he could return for the Italian Super Cup semi-final against AC Milan in early January, where he might face fellow USMNT teammates Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah, who are also currently sidelined with injuries but expected to be available for the tournament.

Reyna Finally Scores; Sets American Record

Midfielder Breaks 19-Month Goal Drought to Set American Record in Bundesliga

After an agonizing 19-month goal-scoring drought, Gio Reyna spectacularly returned to form during Borussia Dortmund's 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim on Sunday. The 22-year-old American midfielder's goal marked a personal triumph and set a new record for Americans in Europe.

Reyna's journey back to scoring has been anything but smooth. Plagued by persistent injuries that limited his playing time, most recently a groin strain, he had become something of a forgotten talent at Dortmund. His last club goal came on May 13, 2023, in a 5-2 win over Gladbach, making Sunday's strike a crucial moment of redemption.

The goal itself was a testament to Reyna's perseverance. After Jamie Gittens' cross was initially cleared, Reyna seized an opportunity near the penalty area. With quick reflexes and powerful technique, he unleashed a shot off a couple of bounces that found the right corner, silencing doubts about his ability to perform at the highest level, which has been questioned by some in the media.

Beyond the immediate excitement of scoring, Reyna achieved a significant milestone. He became the highest-scoring USMNT player under 23 in Europe's top five leagues this century, surpassing Christian Pulisic's previous record of 13 league goals, per Opta. With 14 Bundesliga goals, Reyna has reaffirmed his potential as a top-tier footballer.

The goal comes after a tumultuous period for the young star. A loan spell at Nottingham Forest yielded minimal playing time, and injuries consistently interrupted his progress. This season alone, a groin strain kept him sidelined from September to November. However, recent weeks have shown a resurgence, with Reyna featuring in both Bundesliga and Champions League matches.

Dortmund's head coach Nuri Sahin has been supportive, noting Reyna's determination. "Gio can become important for us if he remains fit," Sahin said, highlighting the player's potential to contribute to the team's success. [Despite more injuries], he's managed to keep at it, train well and present himself positively. I'm glad he scored today. [The recent loan to the EPL] helped him see the importance of getting playing time here at Dortmund." Bundesliga News

Reyna's performance is particularly encouraging for the U.S. Men's National Team. As preparations intensify for the 2026 World Cup and a fourth Nations League Finals on the horizon in March 2025, the team needs Reyna at his peak over the next year and a half.

Robinson Shines as Fulham Secures Dramatic Draw at Anfield

Fullback became the first American to have two assists in a Premier League match since 1993

In a thrilling Premier League encounter, Fulham's Antonee Robinson delivered a standout performance that nearly secured a historic victory against Liverpool on Saturday. The 27-year-old United States international played a pivotal role in Fulham's 2-2 draw, showcasing why he's becoming one of the most exciting full-backs in the Premier League.

Robinson's impact was immediate and decisive. He provided two crucial assists that put Fulham in a commanding position, becoming the first USMNT player to register multiple assists in a single Premier League match since Roy Wegerle in August 1993, per Opta. His first key contribution came when he set up Andreas Pereira's opening goal, giving Fulham a well-deserved lead at halftime.

The American defender's second assist was equally impressive. With a perfectly weighted pass, Robinson found Rodrigo Muniz, putting Fulham 2-1 up and seemingly on course for a memorable away victory. Robinson started the move with a one-touch pass and once he realized Trent Alexander-Arnold wasn't going to run with him, the fullback bursted up the field. Alex Iwobi released Robinson after his 60-yard run, leading to the assist. Manager Marco Silva praised for Robinson's performance, describing it as "brilliant" and "unbelievable."

"It's really difficult to find one moment where he wasn't at a really high level," Silva commented. Fulhamfc.com The manager highlighted Robinson's bravery in dealing with Liverpool's attacking threats, particularly the challenge of marking Mohamed Salah. Robinson himself acknowledged the difficulty of the task, admitting he felt Salah had his number the first half but grew more confident as the game progressed.

"They piled the pressure on and were really positive, They brought Jota on. I felt like Salah was getting the better of me in the first half, I was on a booking but I felt more myself in the second half," Robinson said. BBC.com

This performance is part of a remarkable season for Robinson, who has now assisted 11 Premier League goals since the start of last season – the most of any defender in the competition. His growth has been notable, with Silva pointing out his improved decision-making and defensive positioning.

Despite the disappointing late equalizer from Diogo Jota, which denied Fulham all three points, there were plenty of positives to take from the match. The team showed resilience and tactical maturity, holding their own against Liverpool for long periods, especially after the home side was reduced to 10 men. Robinson's performance epitomizes Fulham's progress this season. No longer content to just survive in the Premier League, the team is now competitive against top-tier opponents and as the left-back noted, this is the difference from previous seasons.

"We've been managing to pick up results against top teams, that's the difference from last year. We've got injuries. It's all about getting everyone back and staying consistent," Robinson said. BBC.com

With Southampton next up, Robinson and Fulham will look to continue their impressive form, riding the confidence from their spirited display at Anfield.

Musah Sidelined with Muscle Injury

Midfielder missed goalless draw with Genoa

Yunus Musah's recent muscle injury has dealt a blow to AC Milan's tactical plans. He missed the draw against Genoa over the weekend and possibly the upcoming match against Verona on Friday. The 22-year-old American international, a key figure in Paulo Fonseca's lineup, suffered the setback during training, creating an unexpected challenge for the Rossoneri.

Musah has been instrumental in Milan's recent performances, particularly in his role as a right wingback and at right midfield. The timing couldn't be more inopportune for Milan. Already struggling with a mixed Serie A campaign that has them sitting eighth in the table, the team is now dealing with multiple injury concerns. Christian Pulisic is also sidelined with a calf muscle tear, leaving Milan without both of their U.S. National Team players.

Musah is expected to undergo further medical tests to determine the full extent of his injury. The potential absence from the Verona match could prove significant for a team looking to climb the Serie A standings.

Cardoso Solid in Betis' Gritty Triumph

Midfielder Key as 10-Men Betis Hold On Against Villareal

In a remarkable display of resilience, Real Betis secured a crucial 2-1 away victory against Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Sunday, with Johnny Cardoso playing a pivotal role in the team's hard-fought success. The American midfielder demonstrated his growing importance to Manuel Pellegrini's side with an impressive all-around performance.

Cardoso's statistics tell a story of defensive and tactical intelligence. His defensive contributions were instrumental in Betis maintaining their lead after Chimy Avila's red card left the team with ten men. With six clearances, five interceptions, and 11 recoveries, Cardoso was a defensive linchpin from midfield throughout the match. The midfielder also completed 35-of-39 passes with Villareal in possession most of the match.

The game unfolded dramatically, with Vitor Roque opening the scoring before Giovani Lo Celso extended Betis' lead with a sublime free-kick. Although Villarreal pulled one back through Alex Baena, Betis held firm, with Cardoso playing a crucial role in maintaining defensive stability.

Pellegrini's decision to start Cardoso, who appears to be near full fitness after logging 135 minutes this week, paid immediate dividends. After beating CS Pertoclub midweek, this victory marked Betis' first win in six La Liga matches.

CCV and Trusty Win Domestic Cup

Carter-Vickers and Trusty Play Part in Celtic's Dramatic Cup Final Victory

In a pulsating Premier Sports Cup final against Rangers, Celtic's American defensive duo Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty played roles in their team's penalty shootout triumph.

"It's a great feeling," Carter-Vickers told Sky Sports. "It was the first trophy available this season, so we wanted to win. We thought our start of the season deserved it. Anytime you win a trophy, it's a great feeling."

Carter-Vickers demonstrated solid endurance, playing the full 120 minutes of an intense Glasgow Derby. His presence was key in maintaining Celtic's stability throughout the grueling encounter. Trusty, meanwhile, was substituted at halftime in a tactical move by Rodgers, who sought to inject more defensive composure into the game.

The manager's decision to bring on Liam Scales for Trusty at the break proved pivotal. Rodgers noted the need to improve the team's build-up play and "clean up" the game, highlighting the tactical flexibility of Celtic's defensive options.

The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, characterized by six goals, 11 bookings, and 12 substitutions before ultimately being decided by penalties. Celtic's victory was sealed when Daizen Maeda coolly converted the winning spot-kick, sending the Celtic faithful into jubilation.

"It was a very tough game. Fair play to the Rangers," Carter-Vickers said. "I thought they started well, first half especially. But I thought in the second half, we grew into the game and started to have a few more chances. I mean, winning on penalties — if you could definitely win on penalties, that's the way you would pick to win, so at the end of the day, it was great for us." Sky Sports

American Trio Collide in Serie A

McKennie, Weah and Busio All Start in Dramatic Draw

In a pulsating Serie A encounter, Americans Weston McKennie, Tim Weah, and Gianluca Busio found themselves at the heart of a dramatic match between Juventus and Venezia that ended in a 2-2 draw.

McKennie delivered a solid performance, completing 80% of his passes and winning all four of his ground duels. His defensive work was particularly impressive, with three recoveries and two interceptions showcasing his box-to-box capabilities.

Weah, subbed off after 66 minutes, maintained an 85% pass accuracy and made three touches in the opposition box. Though not directly involved in the scoring, he continued to be a presence in Juventus' attack.

Busio, representing the struggling Venezia, put in a determined shift with an 83% pass completion rate and six passes into the final third.

The match itself was a rollercoaster, with Juventus salvaging a point through Dusan Vlahovic's 95th-minute penalty after Venezia had stunned the home crowd by taking a 2-1 lead. The result epitomized Juventus' challenging season, marking their 10th draw in 16 games.

McKennie Returns; Nets Spectacular Goal

Compatriot Provides Cross For Midfielder's Scissor Finish

In a crucial Champions League clash at the Juventus Stadium Wednesday, Weston McKennie came off the bench to deliver a splendid and decisive goal that sealed Juventus' 2-0 victory over Manchester City.

After Dusan Vlahovic had broken the deadlock with a powerful header in the 53rd minute, McKennie entered the game as a substitute and made an immediate impact. In the 75th minute, he received the ball from fellow American Timothy Weah, who also subbed on with McKennie, following a well-orchestrated counterattack and the midfielder unleashed a stunning volleyed finish past Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.

"I was falling over honestly," McKennie said jokingly. "No, I'm just playing. You've seen it before. I did it also against Barcelona so I got it in the locker every once in a while." CBS Sports

McKennie's goal came during a brief but crucial cameo, playing just 21 minutes but making a significant contribution. He completed 4-of-6 passes, including the pass to release Weah before his goal. After Weah's initial cross was blocked, he delicately crossed the ball to the open McKennie in a perfect position to strike.

The American midfielder's late goal not only secured the win for Juventus but also compounded Manchester City's difficulties in the Champions League. The victory leaves City in a precarious position, sitting 22nd in the group standings with just two matches remaining. Juventus are now 14th in the group standings, still in shouting distance of a knockout-round position.

"It was definitely CBS Sports

McKennie's goal was a testament to his ability to make an immediate impact as a substitute, turning the game decisively in Juventus' favor. His finish, similar to one he scored against Barcelona in the Champions League four years earlier, epitomized the Italian side's clinical counterattacking strategy, which frustrated Manchester City throughout the match.

"The big thing is being in that eight position," McKennie said. "I like whenever I'm not really contained when I have the freedom to just run and let my energy out because I'll always be able to get back to my position. So if I have a coach that you know allows me to do that and make my runs in behind and arrive late in the box, then (I'll) have more opportunities to score more goals. It just depends on if it goes in the back of the net or not." CBS Sports

Balogun's Season Disrupted

Monaco Striker Facing Shoulder Surgery

Monaco's Folarin Balogun is set to undergo shoulder surgery, marking a significant setback in his season.

The 23-year-old forward has been battling a persistent shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined. Monaco coach Adolf Hütter confirmed the upcoming medical procedure, expressing concern about the striker's future.

"The decision is that Balo will have surgery on his shoulder, and we don't know exactly how long it will take," Hütter told media. "It's a shame for him and a shame for us."AS.com

Initially sidelined for approximately two months, Balogun had returned to competition at the end of November. However, a recent hit during a 2-1 loss to Marseille in the French league reignited his pain, forcing him to miss training sessions and ultimately necessitating surgery. The striker was just starting to find his form before the initial injury, scoring in three-straight matches before being sidelined after the 2-1 win over Rennes back in October.

Most recently, the injury impacted his return to Arsenal, where Balogun spent his entire youth career, as Monaco fell midweek to the London side 3-0 in the Champions League. Balogun's availability for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League semifinals against Panama on March 20 remains uncertain.

Cardoso's Return Boosts Betis in Europa Conference League

After a Month Off, Cardoso Plays a Half in Victory

Midfielder Johnny Cardoso made a triumphant comeback for Real Betis on Thursday, playing a crucial 45-minute role in the team's 1-0 victory over CS Petrocub in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

After being sidelined since mid-November due to a hamstring injury, the 23-year-old delivered an impressive performance that showcased his value to Manuel Pellegrini's squad. Cardoso demonstrated his midfield prowess by completing 26-of-30 passes, winning four of six duels and making a tackle along with seven recoveries.

Strategically replaced at halftime as he continues to build his fitness, Cardoso's return couldn't have come at a more critical time for Real Betis. The match extended the team's unbeaten run to three matches across all competitions, providing a significant boost heading into their upcoming league match against Villarreal, though Cardoso may not be ready for two matches in a week.

His comeback has also reignited transfer interest from top European clubs, particularly AC Milan. Reports suggest Milan could make a move in the winter transfer market, with a potential offer between 25 and 30 million euros potentially securing his services. Tottenham holds a first refusal option on Cardoso but cannot exercise it until the summer, leaving an opportunity for Milan to pursue the talented midfielder.

For Pellegrini, Cardoso's return is particularly welcome. The Chilean coach had been forced to rely on young academy players and makeshift solutions, including using defender Ricardo Rodríguez in unusual midfield positions during Cardoso's absence. Cardoso has reaffirmed his importance to Real Betis and the return from injury has ignited his potential as a sought-after midfielder in European football.

CCV Man of the Match; Eyes Different Trophy This Weekend

After the Goalless Draw in the Champions League, Celtic Play Rangers in Scottish Cup Final

Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has emerged as a standout performer in the Champions League, recently earning a coveted spot in the UEFA Team of the Week following his exceptional display against Dinamo Zagreb. The 26-year-old United States international delivered a masterclass in defensive resilience, helping Celtic secure a crucial 0-0 draw and maintaining the team's European campaign momentum.

Carter-Vickers was named Man of the Match in the goalless draw Tuesday, boasting a remarkable 93% pass accuracy with 99 out of 106 passes completed, while making a couple of interceptions as Celtic were in control of the ball for most of the match, lacking that threat in the final third.

Reflecting on the Champions League match, Carter-Vickers highlighted the team's collective spirit. "We have that collective belief at this level and determination to stick in there and defend as a team," he explained. The Celtic Star

His resilience is particularly noteworthy, having bounced back strongly after an own goal against Club Brugge in the club's last Champions League fixture. Fellow American Auston Trusty has been Carter-Vicker's main center-back partner as of late, each playing five of the last six matches since the return from the international break — four of them have been together.

Looking ahead, Carter-Vickers is focused on the upcoming Premier Sports Cup final against Rangers at Hampden Park on Sunday. His approach remains focused: "It’s always good to play at Hampden at the atmosphere is always good. As a team, we have quite a few positive memories there, so we are definitely looking forward to it... Whatever has happened in the past is nice, it definitely helps you go into it with a positive mindset, but when the whistle sounds, it’s a new game and a new challenge. We have got to be up for it." Aaronson Scores First Goal in Over a Month

Midfielder Adds Late Tap-in to Seal Leeds Victory

Brenden Aaronson delivered a timely response to his recent struggles, playing a pivotal role in Leeds United's 3-1 victory over Middlesbrough at Elland Road on Tuesday night.

The American midfielder had been under scrutiny following a six-match goalless and assist-less streak, with some fans calling for him to head to the bench. However, Leeds manager Daniel Farke remained steadfast in his support, consistently praising Aaronson's work rate.

Teammate Pascal Struijk came to Aaronson's defense, highlighting the player's often-unnoticed contributions. "He puts in the work, runs a lot for the team and does a lot of stuff off the ball," Struijk told BBC Radio Leeds. "Then his time will come and he'll score the goals he deserves." leedsunited.news

On Tuesday, Aaronson proved Struijk right. His performance was notably improved, particularly in the final third, where he showcased neat turns and creative movement. The goal came as a perfectly timed culmination of his hard work, helping Leeds secure their eighth consecutive home league win in the Championship.

This performance could be a turning point for Aaronson, demonstrating his ability to overcome a challenging run of form and continue to be a crucial player for Leeds United.

Trio of Americans Score in Rout

Tillman, Ledezma and Pepi all score in the victory

PSV continued their dominant Eredivisie campaign with a crushing 6-1 victory over FC Twente, with Americans Malik Tillman, Ricardo Pepi and Richy Ledezma marking the occasion with a goal each

Despite an early setback when Sem Steijn scored from a controversial free kick, PSV quickly turned the match around. Noa Lang equalized within ten minutes, setting the stage for the Americans to shine. Malik Tillman took center stage in the 34th minute, scoring from a loose ball after a cross. Richard Ledezma added to the rout with a well-placed strike from a difficult angle in the 63rd minute. Ricardo Pepi, who started over Luuk de Jong, played a crucial role in creating opportunities and ultimately scored PSV's final goal with a stylish chip in the 85th minute, completing the Americans' impressive showing.

The team has now won 14 of 15 matches, scoring an incredible 56 goals in the Eredivisie—the highest tally after 15 matches since their own 1987-88 season. PSV's victory extends their lead to seven points over second-place Utrecht, underlining their dominance in the league. The win sets up PSV perfectly for their upcoming Champions League match against Stade Brest, with the team showing no signs of slowing down.

Pulisic Off Injured

Winger Sustained Calf Tear in Defeat to Atalanta

AC Milan’s American winger Christian Pulisic faces an unexpected setback after suffering a minor calf muscle tear during Friday's 2-1 defeat to Atalanta. The injury, which forced him off the field in the 38th minute, threatens to disrupt his terrific season in Italy.

Pulisic, who has been AC Milan's leading scorer this season with eight goals and six assists in just 20 matches, will likely be sidelined until January. The club confirmed on Monday that an MRI revealed a muscle tear in his right calf, ruling him out of several crucial matches.

The timing couldn't be more challenging for Milan, who are currently seventh in Serie A and competing in the Champions League. Pulisic will miss the upcoming Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade, as well as Serie A games against Genoa, Hellas Verona and Roma. His potential return is anticipated for the Jan. 3 Italian Super Cup semifinal in Saudi Arabia.

This injury marks a stark contrast to Pulisic's recent consistency. After struggling with injuries during his time at Chelsea, he has been remarkably durable since moving to Milan. In the 2023-24 season, he played 50 games in all competitions. He had only surpassed 40 matches in a season three times prior.

Fortunately, the injury is not expected to impact Pulisic's availability for the upcoming CONCACAF Nations League semifinal against Panama in March.

Gio vs Scally

Scally Shined While Reyna Came Off the Bench in Draw

On Saturday, Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach battled to a 1-1 draw, with Americans Joe Scally and Gio Reyna playing contrasting roles in the encounter.

Joe Scally demonstrated a strong defensive performance for Gladbach, recording six clearances, three interceptions and two blocks, one of which was near the goalline on a Serhou Guirassy scissor kick. Scally also completed 21-of-28 of his passes. Jamie Gittens was Scally's main defensive assignment put Dortmund ahead in the 65th minute with a solo goal, continuing his impressive run of scoring in four consecutive matches. Scally allowed the winger to dribble and when Franck Honorat came over to double-team, Gittens cut inside on Honorat and scored off the crossbar.

Kevin Stoger's penalty six minutes later leveled the score, preventing Dortmund from securing their first away win of the season.

Gio Reyna, in a limited 12-minute appearance, showed glimpses of his potential. He completed 10-of-13 passes, achieved a 100% success rate in ground duels, and created a chance. That chance came after he took a corner two minutes into extra time. After it was partially cleared, the ball came back out to Reyna on the right wing. He curled in an inviting cross for Guirassy to nod home the winner, only for the header to bounce wide.

The result leaves Dortmund fifth in the Bundesliga, 12 points behind leaders Bayern Munich. Gladbach sits 11th, with the match ending dramatically as they were reduced to 10 men after late substitute Tomas Cvancara received two quick bookings. Despite the Americans' efforts, neither Scally nor Reyna could decisively influence the match's outcome.

Balogun Doubtful for Toulouse Match After Shoulder Setback

Striker, just back from injury, could be out in the match vs US teammate on Saturday

AS Monaco forward Folarin Balogun faces uncertain prospects for Saturday's Ligue 1 match against Toulouse, after potentially re-aggravating a shoulder injury during last Sunday's defeat at Marseille.

Coach Adi Hütter confirmed Thursday that Balogun, who recently returned from a two-month injury absence, could not complete Thursday morning's training session. The 23-year-old American international took a significant hit from Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi during the weekend match, raising concerns about his availability.

"He couldn't finish the training session yesterday because it was painful," Hütter told reporters. "He has had treatment and worked indoors today. We'll see if he is able to play on Saturday."  Get Football News France

The injury setback comes at a critical juncture for Monaco, seeking to reclaim their position as Paris Saint-Germain's closest league challenger after the recent defeat to Marseille. Balogun has contributed to that effort, scoring three goals in seven league matches this season.

Of particular concern is Balogun's upcoming match against Arsenal in the Champions League, a return to his former club. The striker joined the English club at eight years old and was under their control until he was sold to Monaco at the beginning of last season. The potential for another extended absence looms large.

"It is always hard with a player when you feel you are back on track and then injury stops your run," Hütter acknowledged. "For sure, he is frustrated about this." Get Football News France

Balogun's national team colleague Mark McKenzie will line up for Toulouse. The center-back has been a constant presence in the side, starting every match in the league since mid-August. In those 11 matches, Toulouse has earned five clean sheets.

Monaco currently sits third in the table with 26 points, seven behind the leaders PSG. Toulouse is 10th with 18 points — 10 points clear of the bottom.

Adams Excellent

Midfielder Key in Win over Tottenham

In the Premier League, Tyler Adams delivered a commanding midfield performance that was instrumental in Bournemouth's crucial 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

"It was a huge performance from us," Adams said. "We knew that the game was going to demand a lot. Tottenham is obviously a high-quality team with so many good players, but the way that they play, demands a lot of running and we had to suffer at times, but we came out on top so it was huge." NBC Sports

Adams was a constant thorn in Tottenham's side, continually disrupting play in midfield. The American won 11 duels, including a perfect 100% success rate in aerial challenges, and made a significant defensive impact with five tackles won, three interceptions and two clearances.

Playing 90 minutes for the second time since returning from injury, Adams had a chance to score midway through the second half. He worked hard to press Spurs building out of the back and intercepted a pass from Fraser Forester to Dejan Kulusevski. The ball popped free to the middle of the box where Adams fired a shot right at the charging Forester. It bounced off Adams and fell to Evanilson, who put it in the empty net from an offside position.

His personal journey this season has been one of gradual rebuilding, with Adams noting he's been "staying patient" and building confidence under his manager's guidance. This performance against Tottenham represents another significant step in his resurgence.

"Obviously want to continue to build the confidence. But we just have a great team, a great manager as well. He's eased me back into it so that's obviously given me confidence in my body again. Just building off that — staying steady and staying patient," Adams said. NBC Sports

Bournemouth's tactical discipline, epitomized by Adams' midfield mastery, proved decisive in securing a vital three points at home, next up for the Cherries will be a trip to Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Jedi Assist; Solid Again

Fullback Captained Again in Fulham Victory

Fulham captain Antonee Robinson played a pivotal role in his team's commanding 3-1 win against Brighton at Craven Cottage, delivering another solid performance wearing the armband for the second time in consecutive matches.

The American left-back completed 26-of-34 passes and created two chances, while contributing to the team's strong defensive showing with five clearances (including three headed), two interceptions, a tackle and a blocked shot.

Most notably, Robinson provided the crucial assist for Alex Iwobi's match-sealing goal in the 79th minute, when he worked hard down the line to set up the forward with a back pass to spin past a defender and score Fulham's third goal.

Manager Marco Silva praised his team's performance, highlighting the significance of the victory. "It was a big three points for us in a tough game," Silva said. "We started in the best way possible with the early goal but Brighton made it really difficult for us in the first half." Reuters

The match saw Fulham take an early lead through Iwobi, who capitalized on a Brighton goalkeeper error. Brighton equalized through Carlos Baleba, but Fulham restored their lead via an Andreas Pereira corner that deflected in off Matt O'Riley before Iwobi completed his brace.

Adding intrigue to Robinson's performance, recent transfer speculations linking him with a potential £40m move to Liverpool. Robinson previously spoke glowingly about Anfield's atmosphere, calling it the "best experience" despite losing a 4-3 match there last season.

"They were just willing the ball into the goal in that game," Robinson recalled, highlighting the passionate Liverpool supporters. WhoScored.com

With performances like these, Robinson continues to attract attention from top-tier clubs while maintaining his crucial role at Fulham.
